Art and Design

Art at Thameside, is a place for children to learn to trust their ideas themselves and to explore what is possible. We are very passionate about the arts and our art curriculum reflects this in its approach to the teaching and learning in the subject.

Our whole-school art wall in school has the power to both inspire and create curiosity in the subject that is so dear to everyday life. Our aim is to enable children to communicate through the arts, giving children a voice through self-expression and individual creativity. It also allows children to be reflective and appreciate the achievements of others, following our school values. Our art curriculum is designed in a way that enables children to think, work and communicate like an artist. As a school, we are ambitious in our approach to teaching art by allowing children an opportunity to acquire and develop knowledge and skills associated with art and represent their learning during the creative process. Art is for everyone to enjoy and at Thameside Primary we believe that every child is an artist!
