Headteacher welcome
Headteacher welcome
A message from our Headteacher - Mrs Laura Youngman.
I am delighted to welcome you to our school’s website, where I hope you find all information that you require. I have been Headteacher since September 2022 and it is my privilege to lead Thameside, which is an aspirational, caring and nurturing school at the very heart of the community in South Abingdon. I feel incredibly proud to be working with an incredible team of professionals who show such amazing passion and dedication every single day to provide the very best opportunities for our children - this approach is at the centre of our motto: 'Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day,' which everyone models.
I am thrilled to be leading an ambitious school that is already characterised by enthusiastic, happy and dedicated young people with enormous potential. At Thameside, we value character and experience as highly as academic achievement and understand that every child is unique. A love of learning is something we value highly both for our staff and pupils - we are committed to ensuring that our children leave our school with this skill embedded through life. Our culture of high expectations extends beyond the classroom and incorporates the development of our '5Rs' - resilience, respect, resourcefulness, responsibility and reflectiveness, in order that we can support children to make positive decisions and a difference within the school community, and wider community now and in the future. We are proud of our engaging reading culture, curriculum, enrichment and personal development offer - please do take a look at the website for more information.
I believe that for children to succeed in school, they must feel safe and happy. At Thameside, we provide a caring and inclusive environment in which your child can thrive. The relationship and collaboration between our school and our children's’ families is vital and an area that we encourage and prioritise through a variety of events and activities.
I do hope that you find our website helpful; choosing a school for your child is the most important decision that a parent or carer can make and we would love to invite you to visit our school so that you can see it and experience it first-hand.
If you cannot find the information you require on this website, please do contact the school by telephoning the school office who will be happy to answer your questions or arrange a tour.
